Stroke
Stroke is not a unique disease; the generic term “stroke”, also called apoplexy or brain insult, is used for a multitude of diseases that occur due to different causes and, thus, require different therapies. Depending on the cause, doctors speak more precisely of a “cerebral infarction” if the stroke was caused by a lack of blood supply to the brain or of a “cerebral haemorrhage” if it was caused by blood leaking into the brain tissue. Almost 270.000 strokes occur in Germany every year, about 200.000 of which are first-time strokes.

I am Nadja. I come from Nova Kakhovka in Ukraine, and I was treated in Kliniken Schmieder Allensbach after a stroke.

Because of the war in Ukraine, my clinic in Kyiv was closed, and I had to find another medical facility to continue my treatment. My son found a person in Germany who recommended Kliniken Schmieder to me. They connected me with the clinic’s international office, and so we decided to come to Kliniken Schmieder Allensbach for the treatment.

Everything was new to me when I arrived at the clinic, but the first impression was good. Here, I had everything, like water and electricity. All the people in the clinic, like the international office and Prof. Liepert, were very helpful. I was most satisfied with the service of the nursing staff. They always came in the night and helped me.

Here, I know that I won’t fall. I trust everybody, especially the doctors and therapists. Everybody is very professional. I also really like the meals and the Bodan Lounge.

Now that the treatment is over, I have achieved a lot: I can stand, walk, and dress alone. I advise everyone in this situation to do everything the therapists say. I am very happy with my treatment at Kliniken Schmieder and my progress here.
