Patient report: Multiple Sclerosis

Khloud

``All my goals were achieved at Kliniken Schmieder.``

Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. Along with epilepsy, it is one of the most common neurological diseases in young adults. Most patients are between 20 and 40 years old when symptoms first appear. In more than one-third of patients, MS begins with sensory disturbances: Arms or legs feel numb or the skin tingles. The aim of therapeutic measures is to maintain the patient’s independence in everyday life. The best achievable quality of life should be ensured for the patient.

I am Khloud, 36 years old, from Saudi Arabia. I suffer from multiple sclerosis.

Unfortunately, I have not found a treatment option in my home country. Therefore, I applied to our Ministry of Health, which provided me with cost coverage for treatment abroad.

A friend of my husband’s went to Kliniken Schmieder for treatment and highly recommended the clinic to us. I am already here for the second time now.

My feeling and first impression of the clinic were good. The environment is very pleasant for a relaxing rehabilitation for the patients. I always enjoy the peace and quiet here. The clinic gave me a completely professional impression.

The medical treatment has worked very well for me. The doctors here knew straight away which medication I needed, and I am very happy with that. Elsewhere, there were always serious complications. What I also find very well is that psychology is also put in the foreground here. I think that is very important.

The entire staff is very professional and caring. Particularly Professor Liepert is an excellent doctor who listens to all the patient’s wishes. Also, Huda Ahmed has supported me with everything from the beginning to the end. I am very grateful for this.

At the end of my treatment, I feel very good. All my goals were achieved at Kliniken Schmieder.

I would like to give other patients the following advice: Don’t wait too long; even if you cannot pay the costs yourself, try to do it through your government or insurance. Please do not give up.
