Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. Along with epilepsy, it is one of the most common neurological diseases in young adults. Most patients are between 20 and 40 years old when symptoms first appear. In more than one-third of patients, MS begins with sensory disturbances: Arms or legs feel numb or the skin tingles. The aim of therapeutic measures is to maintain the patient’s independence in everyday life. The best achievable quality of life should be ensured for the patient.

My name is Abdulaziz Mahrous, I am 33 years old, and I am from Medina, Saudi Arabia.

I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which is a very complex disease. All the previous treatments in Saudi Arabia did not help me, and the doctors did not find any other treatment option. So I decided to look for a clinic abroad.

My uncle had already had a treatment at Kliniken Schmieder and highly recommended the clinic, and my contact person Huda Ahmed from the International Office.

My impression when I arrived at the clinic was very good, and I thought this was the place where I would be cured. Although unfortunately, a complete cure was not possible, I am still very grateful for the great result in such a short time. At the beginning of my stay, the medicinal treatment and the physiotherapy especially appealed to me. I was also very well provided with splints, so I could walk much better with them.

I am most satisfied with the well-organized system of Kliniken Schmieder, the procedure, and the therapy plan, in which the therapies were spread out over the whole day. One is well occupied here. Everyone here is very professional, including the nursing staff, as well as the therapists and doctors. Not forgetting the reception staff, who are always helpful, and the “Bodan Lounge” restaurant team, who have always been very friendly.

At the end of my treatment here, I am very happy with my stay. When I came, I was in a wheelchair, and it was difficult for me to speak. Now I can walk with the orthosis, and my speaking is more fluent. The therapists even told me I could walk again after six months without any aids!

To all patients considering treatment in Germany at Kliniken Schmieder, I would advise you not to wait too long. Take the chance to start treatment quickly! I am sure that Kliniken Schmieder will help you to get everything started. Of course, it always depends on how advanced your disease is and your current condition. Multiple sclerosis is a very complex disease, some have very severe courses, and some can recover quickly. Stay focused and get treatment quickly!
