Neurological Rehabilitation after a
Traumatic Brain Injury

Back to life with Kliniken Schmieder in Germany.

A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the most severe neurological impairments, caused by a serious head injury.
If you or a loved one has been affected by such an event, it is of great importance to begin intensive early neurological rehabilitation as soon as possible in order to prevent significant and lasting long-term consequences.

Since 1950, the family-run Kliniken Schmieder have stood for medical excellence and compassion in Europe, as a quality leader in neurology and neurological rehabilitation. For over 75 years, we have supported adults after a TBI on their very personal path to neurological recovery. With innovative therapy concepts, interdisciplinary teams, and genuine human empathy, we create new perspectives – tailored to each individual and always by your side.

Our International Office team is here for you if you have questions about neurological rehabilitation after a TBI, about our clinic, or if you would like to receive an individualised offer. Send us your inquiry or contact us via chat, email, or phone.

Personal. Holistic. Goal-oriented.

Our rehabilitation plan is as individual as you are.

After a TBI, in addition to initial medical treatment, a comprehensive and structured rehabilitation plan tailored to body, mind, and soul must begin as quickly as possible. We support you or your loved one step by step through several consecutive rehabilitation phases.

Early neuro rehabilitation (Phase NRP-I/NRP-S)

  • Have you or your loved one become stable and no longer require ventilation after acute treatment for a TBI?

If so, we begin this phase of early neurological rehabilitation for severely affected patients with targeted medical treatment, initial therapies, and activating nursing care. This early stimulation of muscles, senses, and movement can activate the body’s own strength and help restore lost functions.

Neuro rehabilitation (Phase NRP/M)

  • Have you or your loved one begun to regain initial signs of motor or cognitive abilities after a TBI?

If so, we begin this phase with an individually tailored neurological rehabilitation program, focusing on the recovery of everyday skills and the promotion of movement, speech, and thinking.
We focus on strengthening independence and, if possible, supporting a return to working life.

Our goal: To restore our patients’ motor and cognitive abilities, promote their independence, and open up new perspectives for their lives.
