Kliniken Schmieder expand e-mobility

The new e-Crafter from VW is the first electric passenger transport vehicle to be used at the Kliniken Schmieder. The shuttle bus is a purely electric vehicle with a range limited to 120 kilometers. Every weekday, the e-Crafter makes 28 trips between the Allensbach train station and the clinic grounds to transport employees and patients. It has space for eight people and an integrated lift for wheelchair users. “This is absolutely sufficient for the short distances we drive every day between the clinic and the Allensbach train station,” emphasizes Jochen Brugger, Managing Director for Purchasing and Finance. The switch to e-mobility is increasingly being pursued and makes an important contribution to climate protection, says Brugger.

The shuttle bus will also be used at the other clinic sites if necessary. In the long term, the Kliniken Schmieder are converting to e-mobility for vehicles that can be used in the entire fleet. Last year, a VW e-UP was already put into operation at the Konstanz site. Environmentally friendly transportation is a major issue that the Kliniken Schmieder have already been actively promoting for several years by offering a JobRad and subsidies for the use of public transportation.
